About Secondary School in Thailand

Secondary school in Thailand

Secondary School

It is divided into two levels: lower secondary (Mattayom 1-3) and upper secondary (Mattayom 4-6). Lower secondary school is compulsory for all students, while upper secondary school is optional.

The Ministry of Education designs Thailand's secondary school curricula. It covers topics including arithmetic, physics, social studies, and other languages in addition to Thai language. Additionally, students have the option of enrolling in elective classes in disciplines including art, music, and physical education.

Secondary schools in Thailand provide a range of extracurricular activities, such as athletics, clubs, and student government, in addition to the academic program. Students get the chance to grow in their interests and talents through these activities, as well as learn how to collaborate with others.

The O-Net is a nationwide exam that students take at the conclusion of upper secondary school. The O-Net is used to evaluate students' academic performance and establish if they qualify for admission to universities.

Students have two options after finishing high school: enrolling in a university or starting a job. Before applying to a four-year degree program, most people who decide to attend university often complete a two-year pre-university program. Those who opt to enter the workforce can do so immediately or after completing a program of vocational training.
